 WE HAVE MOVED--www.crossbridgegbc.org

Welcome!

(Information about the music department opportunities is found on this page following the introductory material)

This is the new site for a new church

How new is CrossBridge? We are just getting started. We are making connections with our neighbors, seeking leaders, developing a core group, and making great plans for a tremendous launch in March 2007.

We are starting in the Bryant/Benton area. We have four suites in Hurricane Creek Plaza. Our Worship Center is in Suites 5,6, & 7 (enter at #6). Our Children's Center and offices are in Suite 10. Hurricane Creek Plaza is about halfway between

Reynolds Road
and
Alcoa Road
along the eastbound frontage road (south side of Interstate 30).

CrossBridge is a New Church for a Growing Community

A Family of Faith and Fellowship of Friends

CrossBridge will serve the communities adjacent to I-30 from I-430 through Benton. Cross a few bridges and we can connect with neighbors in Mabelvale, Otter Creek, Alexander, Collegeville, Bryant, Bauxite, Benton, Salem, and other communities within a few minutes.

CrossBridge sincerely desires to be a place where area neighbors become a family of faith and fellowship of friends.

The lead pastor and his wife, like so many in this region, are new residents. They are excited about making connections with you and getting to know you.

The new church is the perfect place for neighbors, who are not acquainted, to connect right now since everyone in the church is new. So, plan to become a part of this exciting new church as it is forming. Get in on the ground floor and help build a bridge to a positive future for yourself and your neighbors.

Spend a few minutes looking around our new site and contact us with any questions you have.

CrossBridge Music Department

Thank you for your interest in the music department of CrossBridge church. Please read the following information carefully and then respond according to the instructions given below.

CrossBridge is a new church in the Bryant/Benton area. We are presently in core group development. During this stage everyone is new to the church and new to each other. We are worshipping God, studying the Bible, establishing a family of faith, and enjoying the fellowship of new friends. At the same time we are preparing ourselves for the formal launch of the new church on March 18, 2007. Between now and the launch we will be making contact with thousands of people in the region through a major outreach campaign. Also, we will be spending that time preparing ourselves to receive and serve the large number of people who will be coming to the new church for the grand opening through our outreach efforts. We will continue from that point on to be on Christian mission as a church on a permanent basis.

We are seeking musicians to take this journey us who are capable of supporting and advancing the church’s purpose, mission, and vision through their instrumental and/or vocal abilities.

Our objective in music is to generate an environment conducive to the authentic and spiritual worship of God and to provide positive Christian entertainment at appropriate times.

We will be using, primarily, contemporary Praise and Worship style music in our worship services. Most instruments can be provided by the church if necessary. A list of currently available instruments and equipment is available upon request. The Music Department Job Description and the General Job Description, which is required of all paid and volunteer workers in the church, are printed below following the Instructions for Response section.

Compensation for service will be provided to some musicians/vocalists depending on their leadership abilities, role in the band, musical talent, and level of commitment to the church. Some musicians have already chosen to serve the church on a volunteer basis as a part of their Christian service and stewardship. Others are welcome to participate on that basis as well.

Instructions for Response:

1.      Do not respond unless you are seriously interested in serving CrossBridge after having read the information above, the Foundation Statements on the church’s website, the Music Department Job Description and General Job Description which follow these instructions, and are willing to interview with the lead pastor and/or a representative of the church. If you are seriously interested as described, proceed to #2 below.

2.      Write a brief introduction of yourself, a brief spiritual/religious history of yourself, and a thorough description of your musical/vocal abilities and musical work/ministry experiences. Include a statement about your interest in CrossBridge and a list of questions you might have.

3.      Send the written information requested via email to crossbridgegbc@wmconnect.com. Include in your email a contact phone number and the best time to reach you by phone.

4.      Expect to be contacted by email and/or phone within three days of the receipt of your email.

CrossBridge Music Department Job Description

Job Summary

Musicians, vocalists, technicians, and related assistants serving in the music department are responsible for using their gifts and talents in music to glorify, celebrate, and honor Jesus Christ, for leading others to do the same during group worship and celebration events, and for providing Christ-honoring entertainment on various occasions.

Worship at CrossBridge

Worship has but one focal point—the God of the Holy Bible who is revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Church is not the object of worship, neither is any person, activity, or tradition. Worship is not entertainment. Worship is, however, multi-dimensional in expression. Therefore, opportunities that sanction, encourage, and produce authentically worshipful attitudes, Christian actions, and joyful experiences will be sponsored and promoted by the church.

Appreciation of Musical Gifts and Talent at CrossBridge

Musicians and vocalists, by the very nature of their service, are in front of audiences where their gifts and talents are easily recognized. However, CrossBridge will show appreciation for individual and group gifts and talents by providing opportunities for them to showcase their gifts and talents in various ways through various events—concerts and musicals, for example. However, during worship services, all musical and vocal performances will be done in a way that maintains the focus on Jesus Christ—solos (instrumental or vocal), for example, should make every effort to keep the flow of attention on Jesus Christ.

Tasks to be Performed:

  1. Model the principles and disciplines of Christian life and stewardship as becoming a Christian. Musicians who have not yet become followers of Christ will make every effort to refrain from behavior that will have a negative impact on Christ or his church. Any form of public disgrace that would cast a negative reflection on Christ, Christians, or Christ’s church will result in a temporary or permanent dismissal from the band.
  2. Know and understand this job description and the General Job Description required of every CrossBridge Volunteer.
  3. Know and understand any formal agreements or arrangements between you and the Lead Pastor and the Elders regarding voluntary or paid service in this position.
  4. Establish a working rapport with each Pastor and Elder, the Worship Ministry Leader, and with each Program Leader to whom you are directly responsible.
  5. Know, understand, and follow the foundation statements of the church.
  6. Prepare yourself in advance for your best personal performance in every setting and situation required of you.
  7. Be on time—which means in place and in tune well before start time of every event in which you are performing. All pre-performance band activities—the tuning of instruments and a last run-through rehearsal for example—will be completed at least 20 minutes prior to the start-time of an event. If you cannot attend a practice or a performance, or if you are going to be late, contact the Worship Ministry Leader or the Program Leader to whom you are assigned.
  8. Practice with your group at assigned times during the week on a regular basis. Superior musical abilities will not substitute for practice with your group—others are depending on you to make the group whole.
  9. Excellence and professionalism will be demonstrated in every aspect of service—the ministry of church music, musical performance, and interpersonal relationships in every aspect of church life.
  10. Instruments and equipment, whether your own, those belonging to others, or those church owned, will be maintained in excellent condition mechanically and aesthetically.
  11. All music department personnel will help in set up, break down, and storage of all instrument and equipment as a matter of practical necessity but also as a means of properly handling and caring for equipment.
  12. Church facilities will be kept clean and safe at all times.

Communication and Accountability

  1. Be accountable, to the Worship Ministry Leader, and to any Program Leader to whom you are directly assigned, and ultimately, to the Lead Pastor.
  2. Be accountable to the church Elders according to the job description and in the event the Lead Pastor is not in a position of direct oversight.
  3. Grievances should flow first to your band leader, then to the Worship Ministry Leader, then to the Pastor. Resolution to grievances should be sought at the lowest level possible. Grievances not resolved at the pastoral level should be made in writing to the church Elders who will serve as the mediating body responsible for unresolved grievances.
  4. Maintain positive relations with every person attending the church and those not attending the church, as becoming a servant of the church and as an ambassador of Jesus Christ.
